Company Time operate a total of eight bars on the South coast, each of which provides something unique and wonderfully trendy for the most discerning of evening clientele. Right on the front of Poole Quay they run the Australian-themed sports bar Dundees, and Mint, the relaxed and comfortable bar and club. In Bournemouth they operate Jimmy’s Bar & Restaurant, offering a wide range of affordable food and cocktails, Bent Club, the latest addition to the gay scene in Bournemouth, Crank Club, one of the most popular nightclubs, Bliss Bar, a funky wide-open large and trendy bar, Toko, a beautiful contemporary bar with numerous evening events and Wiggle, a topless bar and nude cabaret.

Owning and operating so many venues is a complicated business. It’s not simply because the venues themselves receive such an enormous number of guests each and every evening, but also because of the diverse range of clientele attending. Company Time needed a security solution that would be able to cover all of their venues, professionally and effectively, whilst also being adaptable to the different groups of people the door staff would be dealing with. They asked Opium Security to make recommendations to provide complete security staffing for their five Bournemouth locations, and to allow them to work together across geographically local venues.

Opium Security assessed each venue in turn, checking everything from the access points to the volumes, age and type of person who visited them. It was important that they carried out ongoing evaluations, so they could quickly adapt the security procedures if required. They provided a full security service including the introduction of discrete bag and drug searches, I.D. checks, including checks for fake I.D. and a daily assessment of all of the access points to each of the venues. Radio links were introduced so that staff could stay in touch throughout the venue, and with the other venues in the town. The fully trained and experienced door staff operate a zero tolerance policy on any forms of drugs or abuse from customers, as the patrons, staff and performers have the right to feel safe and comfortable on their night out.
