  The Opera House itself dates back to before the turn of the century, and has been used as a theatre, ballroom, music venue and nightclub for more than 100 years. Located in a popular entertainment hotspot, it has recently had a multi-million pound refurbishment, turning it into one of the most versatile, stylish and exciting venues in the South.
The venue is used for live music acts, club nights, comedy, corporate entertainment and private parties. The safety and security of visitors, performers and staff at the venue needs to be of the highest caliber, if people are going to want to keep coming, playing and working there. Following the considerable refurbishments, the visitor capacity has increased to over 2000 which, along with the re-opening of a number of sections of the building, means that levels of security have to be higher than at any other time for the establishment.

Arkon and Opium were called upon to provide a detailed assessment of the security needs of the venue during the refurbishment. Their qualified and experienced staff worked closely with the management, the architects and the construction firm to prepare a detailed security solution.

This solution was designed to provide cutting-edge security to what has become one of the most modern venues in the region. It needed to be visible, but remain unobtrusive. It needed to use the very latest security technology, whilst still being affordable. It needed to make everybody involved with the venue feel safe.

The proposal was accepted, and was immediately put into action. Arkon and Opium worked side by side with the developers to ensure all of the systems and procedures had been put in place long before the opening night. From the latest in CCTV and access control to the professional and fully qualified door staff, everything was provided with the protection and well being of those who use the venue in mind.

The end result is that The Opera House is highly regarded as one of the most reassuringly safe places to have a great night out. Arkon and Opium continue to provide the highest levels in customer service, support and ongoing maintenance, and are continually re-assessing the security needs of the venue.
